Once Upon A Time

This 24 minute video shows a small-scale Island with a typical house and some trees. The Island is slowly turning around while the sky is constantly changing and evolves from morning till night. This illusion of a day in scale 1/60 (24 minutes fit 60 times in 24 hours) is created by changing the painted backdrops of the scenes and afterwards blending the different shots together. At the same time the sky is changing from dawn to dusk, the Island is gently rotating creating its own rythm within this fictional day. I created this small-scale Island with a scaled day as a metaphor of how we are always surrounded by time. Even if we want to escape time by isolating ourselves from our busy lives days, time remains an ever-present force, steadily guiding the passage of our days.
